Die ethnische Fragestellung in der spanischen Archäologie: eine wissenschaftsgeschichtliche PerspektiveIn this article the example of Spanish Archaeology is used to analyse the ethnic question from the perspective of the history of science. Th e aim is to gain as comprehensive a picture as possible of the evolution of this subject both in terms of academic research and also in terms of the impact and perception of its arguments in the wider public. On the one hand, this can lead to a critical use of earlier research, and on the other hand it can also provide new impetus for future studies.

Abstract: Simply a fascination with the West, or something else? On the Hallstatt influences on the Vekerzug culture, using the example of the cemetery in Eger-Nagy Eged (Eastern Hungary). In the present study, we deal with the issue of Hallstatt influences on the Vekerzug culture, using the example of finds from the as yet unpublished cemetery in Eger-Nagy Eged, which we can observe during the entire Ha D period in the eastern Carpathian region. In the Vekerzug culture, we can associate with the Eastern Hallstatt culture the occurrence of certain types of jewellery and clothing fittings, weapons, parts of horse harnesses and toilet instruments, and many pottery shapes in particular. These influences from the eastern Hallstatt cultural milieu, and from the Central and Eastern Balkans, on the Vekerzug culture, are traditionally quite underestimated compared to eastern influences. The significant importance of items of the Hallstatt type lies not only in opportunities for dating them, but these in certain areas of distribution of the Vekerzug culture also help understand interactions between the Eastern Hallstatt and the Vekerzug culture, since the newer results of analysis, mainly into cemeteries from southwestern Slovakia and the Danube Bend, provide evidence that both cultures co-existed and did not follow on from each other. Keywords: Eastern Hungary, Southwestern Slovakia, Eger-Nagy Eged, Modrany, Bučany, Hallstatt and Early La Tène Periods, Vekerzug culture, Eastern Hallstatt culture, jewellery, weapons, horse harness, ceramic
